65401906 Two Stage Rotary Vane Pump 115/230V

The RV series of small oil sealed rotary vane pumps deliver excellent ultimate vacuum pressure, high pumping speeds and superior vapor handling capabilities with quiet operation. With over 300,000 units produced, these pumps offer proven performance that sets the industry standard for R&D and scientific pumping applications.

All RV pumps are approved to UL and CSA standards by an external test house and feature our unique mode selector switch, meaning one model is suitable for both high vacuum or high throughput applications. In summary, you can rest assured that when you choose an Edwards RV oil sealed rotary vane pump you are choosing a product you can rely on from a company you can trust.

Technology

All our RV pumps are significantly quieter – noise levels of 48 dBA 50Hz are typically half the noise of a conventional pump and have been achieved by extensive work on the drive train and motor.

The pumps have the unique ability to deliver excellent ultimate vacuum in both high vacuum and high throughput modes with or without gas ballast. This gives the user an unrivaled opportunity to select the optimum pumping performance without compromising the application.

In its high vacuum mode, the RV pump is ideal for analytical instruments, electron microscopes, physics research, backing turbo pumps, TV tube pumping and leak detection applications. Configure the same pump in the high throughput mode, and it becomes suitable for mass spectrometer inlet systems, distillation, laboratory furnaces, backing vapor pumps, solvent concentration, freeze drying and other drying applications.

The simple to use mode selector and accessible, three-position gas ballast control allow the pump to be reconfigured at any time, even when the pump is running.

Performance optimization through regular maintenance

Oil condition

The condition of oil used in mechanical pumps deteriorates over time and by contamination from process gases and byproducts, indicated by a progressive change of oil color. Regular replacement of oil will minimise wear and tear on contacting parts and prolong good vacuum performance.

Edwards recommends regular checks on the oil coloration and replacement every 3,000 hours (4 months) depending on application.

Clean and overhaul

Regular cleaning of the vacuum pump to remove process deposits and replacement of the seals to prevent oil and vacuum leaks is essential to maintaining high performance of the product, as well as a clean and safe operating environment. A clean and overhaul kit contains all the parts needed for routine cleaning of your pump.

Blade (vane) replacement

Blades on a rotary pump will wear during normal operation. Edwards recommends replacing them every 30,000 hours (40 months), or as your process conditions dictate. A blade kit contains a full set of blades and typically is used in conjunction with a clean and overhaul kit.

Accessories

If accessories are fitted to your pump, they too will require regular checks and maintenance. For example, a blocked dust filter can significantly reduce the efficiency of a pump.

Act responsibly and safely

Edwards cares about the health and safety of people and the environment. Remember to dispose of used or contaminated oil, cleaning solutions and components responsibly and safely.
